Training on Occupational Health and Safety at Anjuman Trading Corporation
On May 28, 2025, a training session on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) was held at Anjuman Trading Corporation, with key personnel from the factory in attendance. The training was conducted by Deputy Leader, Dr. Abu Hamja, along with Research Assistants Md. Mahfujul Haq, Mongsathowai Marma.

Overview of OHS: The importance of OHS in protecting workers and ensuring a safe working environment was emphasized, along with the need for cooperation between employers, workers, and the government.
Chemical Safety and GHS: The session covered the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for chemical labeling, stressing its role in ensuring proper communication of chemical hazards to enhance safety.
Health Hazards in Tannery Operations: Risks associated with chemical exposure, including skin irritation and respiratory problems from substances like chromium and formaldehyde, were discussed.
Ergonomics and Safety: The significance of ergonomics in reducing workplace injuries and improving productivity was highlighted, along with proper workstation design to prevent musculoskeletal issues.
Preventive Measures: Key safety measures, such as the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and regular health check-ups, were shared, along with the CEO’s role in promoting a culture of safety.
The session concluded with a group work activity focused on identifying and addressing key safety risks in tannery operations.
