Research Overview

SusLeather, a transformative research initiative, endeavors to elevate sustainability within the Bangladeshi tanning industry. Spearheaded by the University of Southern Denmark in collaboration with Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), this two-year project focuses on optimizing occupational health and safety practices and refining waste management strategies. By integrating institutional logic theory, the research seeks to uncover and address vulnerabilities in Lean implementation, paving the way for tanneries to attain the esteemed Leather Working Group (LWG) certification. This impactful endeavor, generously funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under DANIDA, signifies a dedicated commitment to instilling sustainable practices and bolstering the global standing of Bangladeshi tanneries.
